A week ago Isis swallowed a piece of her bone that was too large to digest, and she had to have surgery last Monday to have it removed from her small intestine. Somehow the muscle underneath got infected and she had to have surgery again on Thursday to clean it up. Thursday evening she wasn't healing right and we had to take her to an emergency clinic late at night. Needless to say, this has been one stressful week!

The vet gave her a cone of shame, but she can't figure out how to act while wearing the cone, so we don't leave it on for long. An assortment of small shirts keep her from messing with her stitches. Luckily her grandparents love her enough to watch her during the day, so she doesn't have to it wear them for long.

This has been a traumatizing week for all involved, and we're glad it's over. Isis is healing well, and we can't be more grateful for the support we've been given from all our friends and family.

PSA: Never give your dog an animals bone! It's cheaper and healthier to buy 100 chew toys that get destroyed in one day than risk the trauma involved in a complication like this!

It's always sad to reach the end of a vacation, but we have had a lot of fun on our anniversary trip. While we don't want to have to go back to work on Monday, we will definitely be happy to see our dog and cats and sleep in our own bed. Looking forward to #4!!!

Our vacation is winding down, but we're not done yet. This afternoon we went to a pinball museum and after 24 rounds each (keeping score, of course) we had a good battle, but Emily won in the end. More friendly spousal competition is expected with bowling later tonight.

Today we stopped at Top Pot Doughnuts before taking the monorail to the EMP museum. Tonight's plans include finding a good Italian restaurant and maybe catching a bit of the NFL season opener.

We turned 3 today!!! It was another beautiful day in Seattle. We explored the city, toured the Theo chocolate factory, had a picnic in the park, went to a winery, hung out at an arcade, enjoyed a romantic dinner with a view, and ended the day with pie. We couldn't have planned a better day.
